On Notre Dame heritage restoration site
During the night of the 15th of april 2019, the cathedral Notre-Dame caught fire. It created an international emotion still noticeable today. As a governmental service for the historical buildings, the LRMH commited to this heritage restoration site. Involved since mai 2019 in the sorting operations, the laboratory participated actively to the conservation of fallen pieces from the vaults, the historical frame structure and the spire.
With its partners from INRAP and SRA, it implemented a sorting, ordering and inventoring methodology for the debris in order to study them and be able to reuse some of them in the restoration process. The laboratory is also advising public authorities for the diagnosis of the vaults and on the cleaning process of the cathedral.
